Hey Peoples,
Now it’s time for another installment of: Ten Things That Soften My Stools 1. My family. I love my daughter Johanna so much, I’m going crazy. My wife, Kristie, has been doing such a great job of keeping me sane and making sure my colors match when I leave the house in the morning. She’s also someone I respect immensely. Oh, I love her lots, too. 2. Venancio, "Living For The Now." This is a CD that my friend Venny Portalatin is finishing. I played drums on it (among other things) and Scott played sax on it (among other things) and I got to add some weirdness to the proceedings. We’re just finishing the mixing stage and it should be done soon. 3. The Dylan Re-issues. I just got them and they are incredible. Sorry….everything sounds better on LP, but these do sound fantastic. Pick of the year: Blonde on Blonde. No one should be without this masterwork. The new mix is very clean and I heard things I never heard there before. And besides, Track 3 contains the origins of my daughter’s name! 4. My Vox AC-30 amp. This is a real long story, but I finally got it working after two years of frustration. It is my sound and you can hear it starting late September! 5. Ivor Cutler Trio, "Ludo." This is a strange little album. I really can’t describe what it is but It’s yummy! Ivor’s claim to fame was a small role in the Beatles’ film “Magical Mystery Tour” but don’t hold that against him. 6. Anything by The Doors. I don’t know what it is but they have that magical element that keeps me hangin’ on. Pick of the year: Morrison Hotel. 7. Johnny Cash and John Ritter. Wow! A double whammy. I always thought John Ritter was funny and I wanted him to be my dad. Johnny Cash was and is a legend and his music will live on forever. 8. The Gilmore Girls. Hey! Fuck you! It’s a good show! What the hell would you know? You probably watch those worthless reality shows or football or something. Direct your hate mail to: Bongo@funkabillyplayboys/ilovethefrench.com. Rory is going to do fine at Yale. 9. Teeth. 10. The Drummers of Burundi. A very intense drum CD. It only has one short track, but it’s worth it.
Peace and Love, P.S. Hey Scott!…..Les lunettes du singe sont verts! P.S.S. If boring family photos are your thing, go here. ~Funkabilly
